The historic Cotham's Mercantile building in Scott, Arkansas

About

Cotham's Mercantile has operated out of a 1917 general store building in the small town of Scott since it was converted into a restaurant decades ago — and the Hubcap Burger it's famous for is so named because it genuinely approaches hubcap dimensions. The patty is hand-formed, the bun is overwhelmed, and the whole enterprise is unapologetically old-school in the best possible sense. The dining room still looks like a working mercantile: pressed tin ceiling, old shelving units, mismatched chairs, walls lined with memorabilia. Lunch only, Tuesday through Saturday. It requires a 20-minute drive from downtown Little Rock and is worth every mile. The line on Fridays can be long; go on a Tuesday if you want to arrive and be seated.

Must Try

  • 01Hubcap Burger (get the full size, not the half)
