The SoMa Makers Market runs along South Main on the second Saturday of each month through the warm season, drawing thirty to forty vendors — ceramicists, jewelers, painters, woodworkers, vintage clothing dealers, and local food producers — into the street in front of the neighborhood's galleries and studios. It functions as a natural complement to First Friday: if you visited the galleries the night before, come back Saturday morning when the street is full and the coffee shops are open. The market has a relaxed, neighborhood-first vibe — vendors are regulars, dogs are welcome, and it's the kind of event where you're as likely to run into neighbors as to discover a new favorite local artist. May is a particularly good month — the weather is still reasonable and vendors arrive with spring inventory.
